This is an example of one of Clare's living willow arbours planted
in the Nature Reserve at Wakehurst Place, Sussex in 2002. It is
2 metres high with an oak seat carved by Alun Heslop. The willow
rods are planted through holes drilled round the back of the seat.
The rods will gradually fill the holes as they grow fatter.
These are photos of the arbour just planted in winter, without
leaves, and in its first summer, fully sprouting. More photos will
be added to show how the piece evolves. Wakehurst Place is open
to the public.
